Aseco occupies a strategic position in the Puglia and Basilicata area; it represents a reference point for the social and agricultural life of the area. For this reason its activities are always aimed at respecting nature and the environmental rules in force.
An important contribution to this is made by the continual investments in Research and Experimentation leading to daily contact between
Aseco and Authorities and Research Institutes like: the Department of Vegetable Production Sciences of the University of Bari, the Laboratory of Dynamic Olfactometry of the University of Udine and the
engineering Department of the University of Perugia.
Aseco, along with the Department of Sciences of Vegetable Productions (D.S.P.V.) and the Acquedotto Pugliese, has conducted experiments to ascertain the quality, the effectiveness and the technical/economic convenience of the fertilizer and/or compost ameliorant obtained from biological purification sludge.
The results obtained now allow us to state that the compost produces extremely positive effects on plant growth and on the division of biomass, increasing the product by approximately 20%.
Further scientific experiments are currently underway. Amongst these, particular interest has been focussed on the research co-financed by the Ministry of Scientific Research, under the scientific guidance of the University of Perugia and in collaboration with leading companies in the sector, which intends to optimise the production cycle of the composting and to control the process parameters to better safeguard the environment and the workers.
